Deadline: 20-Aug-2025
The Communities Climate Adaptation Facility (C-CAF) is now accepting applications to support local communities in addressing urgent climate-related challenges. This global initiative, led by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) under the UNOPS-hosted secretariat, is designed to empower communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis, particularly those facing threats such as sea-level rise and other adverse climate impacts.
C-CAF was created to bridge the gap in climate finance at the local level by offering direct support through climate quick impact grants. These grants aim to strengthen the adaptive capacity and resilience of climate-vulnerable communities. The initiative works in collaboration with national governments, international agencies, and regional partners to enable transformative, community-led adaptation solutions.
The program specifically focuses on reaching marginalized and underserved populations, including those isolated or disconnected from government services, or those relocating due to climate pressures. Communities receiving climate migrants are also eligible for support to help integrate new residents into local life and economies. Gender-sensitive and culturally inclusive adaptation efforts are a key priority, ensuring that vulnerable groups—especially women, indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities—are actively supported.
C-CAF supports a broad range of projects targeting short-term adaptation needs across sectors. These include ensuring equitable access to clean water and sanitation, integrating traditional and indigenous knowledge in environmental projects, improving climate-resilient healthcare, developing accessible and inclusive housing, and boosting economic opportunities for women, youth, and indigenous groups.
Each project funded by C-CAF will contribute to improved basic services, restored ecosystems, sustainable livelihoods, and preservation of cultural heritage. The overarching aim is to foster inclusive and resilient development for communities most at risk from climate change.
The maximum grant available per applicant is 270,000 East Caribbean Dollars, with each project expected to last one year. Eligible applicants include climate-vulnerable individuals and groups, non-profits, indigenous peoples organizations, civil society organizations, and grassroots groups. All applicants must be based in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
