In an effort to meet the needs of children in the DRC, particularly in crisis-affected provinces, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) response plan in eastern DRC aims to improve sanitation conditions in targeted schools by building sustainable toilet blocks in accordance with technical specifications and standards, and to establish or improve water points that meet quality and safety standards for users in the provinces of Kasai and Tanganyika.
UNICEF is working with its partners to ensure the continuity or resumption of education, through the installation of temporary learning spaces, the construction of water, hygiene and sanitation facilities, as well as the implementation of a range of interventions aimed at ensuring that children benefit from a quality education in a protective environment.

Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to sign a partnership with UNICEF, the following criteria must be met by applicants:
- Be registered on the United Nations Partners Portal (UNPP) as a non-profit Civil Society Organization (CSO).
- Be a national or international NGO in compliance with the legislation of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Legal personality (Order of the Minister of Justice) or F92 for NGOs National.
- The Order of the President of the Republic granting authorization to exercise the activities in the DRC for international NGOs.
- The organization must have the favorable opinion of the supervisory Ministry in order to operate in the sectors of activity concerned (Order, registration certificate or operating authorization).
- The organization must have the following governance documents: Statutes, Regulations Internal order, Organizational chart, collaboration agreement).
- Have adequate capacity for the establishment of school infrastructure or water, hygiene and sanitation facilities
