The Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC) is seeking applications for its Child Care Innovation Fund to support organizations or partnerships of organizations to pilot a child care innovation which is designed to benefit an entire region and/or community of the state, not one individual child care business.

Start Up: Pilot a child care Innovation:
- Up to $100,000

Scale Up: Expand the depth and reach of an existing child care innovation pilot
- Up to $150,000
Child Care Innovation Opportunities
- Innovation Opportunity 1: Create Synergy between the economic development and child care sectors.
- Innovation Opportunity 2: Promote Parental choice and empower working parents by expanding access to preschool options that best suit their families’ needs.
- Innovation Opportunity 3: Improve wages, benefits, and on-the-job supports for early educators in group family homes or child care centers within a defined community or region.
Geographic Areas
- Applicants whose work supports geographic areas in Michigan that meet the criteria will be prioritized for funding:
- Geographic areas where the ratio of children ages 0-5 to the number of licensed child care spots is greater than three
- Geographic areas where the ratio of children 0-5 to the number of licensed child care spots is less than three but more than one.
Eligibility Criteria

Their grant awards support organizations or partnerships of organizations to pilot or scale up a child care innovation which is designed to benefit an entire region and/or community of the state, not one individual child care business. The following types of organizations are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations
- For-profit organizations
- Governmental units (e.g., local government, local governmental unit, public ormunicipal corporation, or unit of a State university system)
- Partnership of multiple organizations (with an identified lead applicant/fiduciary)
