Fondation Mérieux’s Small Grant Program: Fighting Against Infectious Diseases Affecting Developing Countries

Deadline: 1 March 2019

Applications are open for the Fondation Mérieux’s grants programme to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The projects including as beneficiaries mothers and children will be given priority.

The Mérieux Foundation, an independent family foundation with public interest status, is committed to fighting, in the field, the infectious diseases that affect developing countries by building capacities, particularly in clinical laboratories.

With its network of laboratories, the foundation’s work is focused on diagnosis, an essential aspect of patient care and an indispensable tool for disease surveillance and control. Taking a global health approach, the foundation also works in the field to help the most vulnerable, with a strong emphasis on mothers and children.

Funding Information

Each selected project will receive a maximum grant of 5,000 euros.

Eligibility Criteria

Mérieux Foundation’s grants programme is open to the projects of private individuals, organizations or associations, provided that they are long-term and incorporate local health.

Eligible Projects

The project must meet the following criteria:

  • It is run in a developing country by local people;
  • It relates to HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, neglected tropical infections and other infectious diseases that represent significant problems to public health;
  • It provides concrete solutions that are suitable and sustainable for the local population and goes beyond education and outreach.

    Have an community organization that deal on health issues. It has a period of 8years now. We have achieved in eradicating tuberculosis cases in our area. We normal visit households in regular voluntary basis purposely to identify the current issues our community is Facing as far as health is concern and we report to relevant departments for support. I believe for the success of our programs these grant will assist.

    I am Dr Ezekiel and currently I am a lecturer in the a Kenyan University. Currently, I am doing some projects on the biology, epidemiology and sustainable management of Jiggers (Tungiasis) in some counties in Kenya. Tungiasis is one of the neglected disease in developing countries and it affects mostly poor people mainly woman and children leading to adverse conditions like loosing fingers, arms , legs and hands. Is it possible for to get funds from your body to support the management of this condition. Thanks
