Deadline: 13-Aug-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a call for proposals to implement activities related to general food assistance, nutrition, digital and financial inclusion, resilience, and self-reliance in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and Hosting District.
The initiative focuses on several key sectors, including food security through cash and food assistance. It also covers livelihoods by supporting community mobilization, microfinance and revolving loan schemes, and efforts toward building self-reliance.
Nutrition activities under this call emphasize infant and young child feeding and the prevention and treatment of malnutrition. These interventions are tailored to benefit both refugees and the host communities.
This programme targets Uganda’s western region, aiming to reach food-insecure refugees and asylum seekers with either in-kind or cash-based assistance, along with nutrition-sensitive social and behavior change communication (SBCC). It also connects communities to complementary services to meet food and nutrition needs more holistically.
Support will be extended to nutritionally vulnerable groups, especially children under five, pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls, ensuring they receive nutrient-rich food and SBCC support. Government institutions and other stakeholders will benefit from enhanced capacities to plan and provide targeted aid to the most at-risk populations.
The initiative promotes diversified livelihoods, improved food security, and nutrition through a coordinated, multi-sectoral system aligned with self-reliance goals. Social empowerment, mindset transformation, and increased income through climate-smart agricultural practices and livelihood diversification are also expected outcomes.
Additionally, the programme supports digitizing Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) and establishing connections with formal financial service providers to promote financial inclusion.
Selection of proposals will be based on several criteria, including accountability to communities, access and security considerations, clarity of activities and results, resource contribution, cost-effectiveness, prior experience working with the UN, innovation, local presence, and strong project management.
