The Novo Nordisk Foundation is accepting nominations to honour Prize for Science Teachers on Teacher Education Programme.
The purpose of the award is to recognize and make visible a special effort in educating and qualifying the country’s future primary school science teachers.
The award is aimed at teachers on the Danish vocational schools’ teacher training courses. Teachers within the subject block natural sciences may be considered. That is, teachers in the teaching subjects:
- Nature/technology
- Physics chemistry
- Biology
- Geography
- Mathematics
Funding Information
- The award consists of a sum of DKK 250,000, including a personal honor award of DKK 50,000 and DKK 200,000 for the vocational college.
Criteria
- The main criterion is that candidates have made a special effort within one or more of these teaching subjects. In the selection, emphasis is also placed on candidates:
- Educates, qualifies and motivates future science teachers.
- Develops, applies and shares inspiring science didactic methods.
- Participates in collaborations across subjects or education levels.
- Contributes to promoting a stimulating science environment that qualifies students and colleagues.
- All criteria do not have to be met for a nominated teacher to be considered.
- Student teachers and colleagues can make suggestions for candidates, but the recommendation must be made via the head of education, dean or rector at the individual vocational college.
- Multiple candidates may be nominated for the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Prize for Science Teachers on the Teacher Education from the same vocational college, and previously nominated candidates who have not received the award may be re-nominated.
