Deadline: 25-Aug-2025
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is seeking Expressions of Interest for a targeted initiative taking place across multiple Indian states, including Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.
The project is centered on strengthening nutrition interventions, with a particular focus on improving strategies for the prevention and management of malnutrition in children, as well as enhancing communication for development across these regions.
A key goal of this initiative is to collaboratively produce a series of knowledge products that document progress, identify best practices, and offer insights to guide future programming. Among the expected outputs is a comprehensive status report highlighting state-led capacity building efforts for frontline workers involved in managing and preventing child malnutrition. This will offer a snapshot of how various states are investing in long-term health outcomes through improved training and resources.
Additionally, the project will develop a report outlining key actions taken by both UNICEF and government partners to sustain the work of state Centers of Excellence (CoEs). Another report will focus on state-led efforts in managing children with Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), offering insights into intervention models that are showing promise at the local level.
An in-depth analysis will also be conducted to document program experiences from three states that have implemented improved recovery approaches for children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition. These efforts involve enhanced take-home rations combined with home-based foods, aiming to improve health outcomes using existing protocols.
To support better monitoring and evaluation, a best practices document will be developed focusing on state-specific Management Information Systems (MIS) used for growth monitoring and the CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition) program. The document will also examine challenges related to software, field practices, and data utilization, offering actionable recommendations for improvement.
Finally, the initiative will produce a clear dissemination plan to ensure that all developed materials are effectively shared with relevant stakeholders, supporting broader learning and uptake across the country. This collaborative approach aims to not only strengthen current practices but also build a more resilient and responsive framework for child nutrition and health across multiple Indian states.
