Deadline: 15-Sep-2025
The Sophie and Karl Binding Foundation is now accepting grant applications for projects in the areas of environment, social work, and culture. The foundation offers financial support for initiatives that align with their mission in specific fields of action.
In the area of biodiversity and landscape, the foundation funds practical, science-based projects that enhance, connect, and expand natural habitats—especially where endangered species are present. It also supports efforts to preserve and improve structured, high-quality landscapes that help shape local identity and biodiversity.
Projects for children and adolescents are also a focus, particularly those supporting disadvantaged youth. The foundation funds programs that assist with the transition from school to the workforce, offer extracurricular activities in music, arts, and movement, and work to prevent violence against young people.
To promote social cohesion, the foundation supports initiatives that encourage understanding and participation across social, linguistic, and regional lines. This includes projects that improve democratic literacy, media skills, and recognition of Switzerland’s cultural diversity.
In the cultural heritage category, the foundation supports the preservation and sustainable use of historically or architecturally significant monuments. Projects should ensure long-term maintenance and make cultural heritage accessible to the broader public.
The foundation also funds initiatives in the arts, particularly in ancient music and through its Binding Sélection d’Artistes program.
However, certain projects are not eligible. These include those outside Switzerland, general fundraising efforts, festivals and jubilees, academic conferences, scholarships, and theatre or circus projects. Basic research and non-applied publications are also excluded, along with exhibitions outside of the foundation’s artist promotion program.
The foundation does not support applications from individuals, families, schools, profit-oriented companies, or governmental entities. Fundraising organizations and economic projects are ineligible as well.
Financially, the foundation will not cover company deficits, recurring operational costs, post-financing, or provide loans. It also excludes support for economic ventures like company foundations, tourism, or investment grants.
