Deadline: 01-Nov-2025
The Kindness Grows Here is currently accepting applications for its Kid Kindness Grants Program directly from kids between the ages of 5–18 who have ideas for spreading kindness in their schools, neighborhoods, and larger communities.
To apply, kids need to complete a simple application that tells what they want to do, why they want to do it, whom their project will impact, how much money they need, and exactly how they will spend it. Applications must be filled out completely and submitted before the deadline.
This program has awarded more than $60,000 in grants to children in 32 states and seven countries. The grants are designed to empower young people to lead projects that spread kindness directly to others in their community. The entire project, from idea to implementation, should be kid-driven, though adult supervision and support are required to ensure the project is completed responsibly and funds are used properly.
Applicants must be students in grades K–12 and residents of the United States. Applications may be submitted individually or as a group, such as a group of friends, a classroom, a scout troop, or a sports team. Individuals may apply for up to $250, small groups for up to $500, and larger groups for up to $800. All applications must include a detailed budget outlining exactly how funds will be used. Without this, the application will be disqualified.
Applications will be evaluated based on quality, impact, fiscal responsibility, creativity, and safety. The strongest applications are those that demonstrate thoughtfulness, originality, and a meaningful effort to connect with others. Importantly, projects cannot simply donate money or goods to organizations, nor can they focus on kindness to animals, as the emphasis is on direct human-to-human kindness.
All awarded projects must be completed by June 1, 2026, and recipients are required to submit a Project Completion Report by July 1, 2026. This report may take the form of a written piece, video, slideshow, or other format, and must explain what it was like to complete the project, who was impacted, how people responded, how funds were spent, and any other required details.
By applying, students and their supervising adults agree to all rules, guidelines, and regulations, including providing receipts and signing a Waiver of Liability before funds are disbursed. Projects must not be part of required school assignments, though educators are encouraged to use provided classroom resources to inspire interested students.
Kindness Grows Here emphasizes that not all winning projects need to be large-scale efforts. Small, simple acts of kindness are just as valuable and celebrated, as long as they show a child’s genuine desire to make their community a better place. The application closes on 1 November 2025.
