Deadline: 26-Nov-2025
The Thessaloniki Pitching Forum offers filmmakers a compelling opportunity to pitch creative and TV documentaries, documentaries for children and documentary series in a co-producing and co-financing environment.
Funding and awards form an integral part of the Forum. Key prizes include a €10,000 award for the Best Doc in Development (IEFTA) and additional cash awards such as €2,000 reserved for a Greek project (ERT – Thessaloniki Pitching Forum Award) and €1,000 plus Eurodoc membership (EURODOC Award). Independent prizes include a €5,000 Onassis Film Award for Greek projects and other industry-investment awards such as consultancy sessions, festival passes and digital services.
Eligible projects must be original feature-length documentary films from the eligible countries listed (which include Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine), or co-produced by one of these countries. Projects may also come from outside these regions, but will be evaluated accordingly.
Up to 12-14 projects will be selected for participation. Projects may be at any stage of development, provided a producer and director are attached. Docuseries of shorter length are eligible alongside feature documentaries. Selected projects are required to attend a two-day online preparatory workshop followed by participation in the full on-site Forum (rehearsal, pitching, one-to-one meetings with financiers and decision-makers). Accommodation and partial travel reimbursement are offered for selected teams.
This platform is a strategic gateway for documentary makers seeking industry exposure, financing partnerships, and co-production opportunities within Southeastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa.
