The Educational Opportunity Foundation extends a compelling chance for charitable organisations in the UK and beyond to drive real change in education.
With around £700,000 available annually in grants, the Main Fund supports projects that open doors for children and young people under 25, whether through improving access, enhancing quality, or ensuring sustainability. This vital funding empowers communities to create lasting educational advancements tailored to their needs.
For projects in low-income or marginalised regions worldwide, the fund provides between £30,000 and £60,000 per initiative, up to £30,000 per year for multi-year efforts. These grants bolster access to education—especially for girls—and foster environments where teaching quality, vocational opportunities, and community ownership of schools flourish.
Within the UK, the fund focuses on care-experienced young people aiming to improve their life chances. With grants from £30,000 to £90,000, organisations can develop support systems that enable access to education, build confidence and mental wellbeing, and guide young individuals toward further education, training, or employment.
The Foundation supports both brand-new and early-stage pilot projects, offering flexible funding over one to three years. While full funding is possible, preference is given to proposals that leverage matched resources and ensure financial integrity. The fund also supports overhead costs up to 20% of the total grant and requires that annual funding does not exceed half of a recipient’s average annual income.
Eligible applicants must be registered UK charities with at least three years of audited accounts, demonstrate strong financial health, and be committed to environmental responsibility and safeguarding best practices. The Foundation prioritises initiatives that align with their vision of inclusive and sustainable education.
New applications are currently open for 2026, with early-stage deadlines for international and UK projects falling at different points throughout the year. This fund offers a rare and impactful opportunity for organisations looking to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people through education.
