Deadline: 22-Oct-21
The Capitol Hill Community Foundation (CHCF) is inviting nominations for the Arnold F. Keller, Jr. Grant, and John Franzén Award to support new initiatives, or programmatic expansions that can make significant contributions to the life of the Capitol Hill community.
The John Franzén Award for the Arts was established by the Foundation to commemorate John Franzén, a long-time board member and devoted supporter of the Capitol Hill community. Each year, the grant will be awarded to an organization or individual active in Capitol Hill arts, including visual, performing and architectural/design arts, as well as those using the arts to educate. To be considered for this award, the applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop new audiences in the community or unusually impactful performances/projects that benefit the quality of life on Capitol Hill.
Focus Areas
Grants are made in the following areas:
- Children’s education – programs based in schools
- After school and non-school based programs for youth
- Social Services
- Arts and Cultural opportunities
- Enhancement of the physical environment and community building
Funding Information
- These special grants of $25,000 are awarded annually at the Capitol Hill Community Achievement Awards Dinner in April.
- The Keller Award is a single $25,500 grant
Eligibility Criteria
In considering where to make this annual award, they will give preference to organizations that have previously received support from the Foundation, although new organizations will also be considered seriously. Each year, the Foundation will endeavor to choose an initiative in a different funding area within the Foundation’s priorities: schools and teachers; other youth programming; social service programs; and neighborhood beautification and community building (note that Arts and Cultural organizations should apply to be considered for the Franzén Award).
