Deadline: 30 November 2025
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi announces a call for proposals for the Local Transition and Media Projects 2026 (LTP2026).
This initiative aims to foster human rights, democracy and free media by drawing on the Czech Republic’s own transition experience and enabling local civil society organisations to lead democratization‑processes.
Eligible organisations based in India, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives or Sri Lanka can apply, provided they are local non‑governmental legal entities, not political parties or state institutions, and are authorised to receive foreign funding (for India, holding a valid FCRA licence). The project must align with one of the key priority areas: support for human rights defenders and civil society; freedom of expression and access to information including media freedom; electoral rights and public participation; equality and non‑discrimination; rule of law; and environmental human rights.
Applicants should prepare for a project implementation period of up to eight months (from contract signing around March 2026 until the end of September 2026). Financial support ranges from CZK 100,000 to CZK 500,000, and while co‑financing is desirable it is not mandatory; also, the budget must be documented carefully and meet conditions of effective and economical use of funds. The application must include a specific identification form, proof of legal registration, authorisation of the signatory, and — if relevant — valid foreign funding licence. Projects will be evaluated on relevance, implementer capacity, effectiveness, feasibility, quality and sustainability.
This call presents a meaningful opportunity for NGOs in the region engaged in advancing civic space, media freedom, rule of law or human‑rights in their local context, offering not just funding but an alignment with a broader transition‑democracy framework grounded in the Czech Republic’s experience.
