A call for “Civil Society Research” has been opened within the scope of the “3005-Innovative Solutions in Social and Human Sciences Research Projects Support Program”.
Based on the need to make comprehensive regulations for the non-governmental sector as a constantly developing and changing sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in their country were discussed for the first time in the Tenth Development Plan under the title of “Qualified People, Strong Society”.
In line with the relevant objectives, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and TÜBÿTAK, in order to support research that produces guiding and innovative solutions that can be applied to both the civil society sector and the public sector by developing academic knowledge in the field of civil society in order to provide scientific input to the development of public policies. It was decided to open a special call titled “Civil Society Research.
Within the scope of the Call for Civil Society Research; It is expected that the civil society sector will be addressed in a comprehensive manner within the framework of research issues such as improving the institutional capacities of NGOs, perception of civil society, ensuring active civil society participation in decision-making mechanisms, civil society and volunteering, donorship, communication and digitalization in the field of civil society.

- With the transformation in individual-society-state relations, the effectiveness of civil actors on a global scale has increased in many areas, including management processes. In this context, development within the scope of research projects to be carried out in order to increase the effectiveness of NGOs in the process and further develop the field of civil society;

- It is of great importance that the management structure of NGOs is sustainable in order for NGOs, which are formed by people who come together on a non-profit, voluntary basis, to make their activities effective and efficient. Within the scope of research projects under this title that will contribute to the development of institutional capacities of NGOs and the creation of a sustainable structure for NGOs;
- Examining the employment policies of NGOs and presenting suggestions on strengthening human resources.
- Fundraising for NGOs to ensure their financial sustainability, preparing road maps to strengthen their capacities.
- Presenting model suggestions in order to improve internal governance in NGOs.
- Considering how NGOs understand the transformation in the digital field, their digitalization skills, communication with their target audiences and members, digital content and social media investigating their use and digitalization capacity in corporate management; All kinds of NGOs in which personal data are processed, especially member registration processes providing model suggestions for data management in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law in its activities
- Researching the contributions of NGOs operating in different or similar fields to networking and institutional capacity building efforts within the scope of developing inter-NGO cooperation and partnerships.

- It is possible to define activities carried out by a person with his own consent, without expecting anything in return, to produce social benefit as voluntary activities. Within the scope of the research projects to be presented under this title;
- Preparing road maps and presenting suggestions for increasing and disseminating volunteering awareness of individuals of all ages in their country.
- What can be done in the training curriculum in order to popularize volunteer activities submitting regulatory suggestions.

Especially in times of natural disasters and humanitarian crises, NGOs can take rapid action and carry out their activities in coordination with the public. Research projects to be presented under this title in the scope of;
- Public-civil society cooperation and management.
- Identifying good practice examples that can be disseminated in Turkey, developing innovative models presenting suggestions.
- Developing model suggestions for carrying out public services in the field of civil society in Turkey more effectively, efficiently and holistically.
- Investigating the role of NGOs in natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
- Creating roadmaps to guide decision makers by modeling participation processes and workflows for both the public and NGOs in order to increase the participation of NGOs in decision-making mechanisms.

- Systematically measuring the socioeconomic impacts of non-governmental activities and determining the place and importance of the non-governmental sector in their country.
- According to the structure of NGOs in Turkey and the sectoral activity of NGOs.
- Impact analyzes regarding the activities of foreign NGOs operating in Turkey.
- Analyzing the supports provided to NGOs.
- Examining non-governmental organizations and lobbying activities.
Funding Information
- Project duration is maximum 18 months.
- Project support upper limit (excluding corporate shares and Project Incentive Bonus (PTI)) 700,000 TL.
Eligibility Criteria
- Projects to be supported within the scope of this call include PTÿ and institution share allowance.
- Projects submitted within the scope of this call are excluded from the limit of being able to take part in projects implemented for the support programs carried out by TÜBÿTAK Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB).
