WACSI invites applications from qualified firms or individual consultants/trainers to facilitate internal capacity strengthening in digital security to enhance knowledge and technical skills of WACSI’s Technology and Policy Influencing and Advocacy teams.
This support will enable the team to contribute to the delivery of step-down training and facilitate digital security policy influencing efforts of civil society in pursuit of the goal of the digital security capacity strengthening and outreach project in four target countries, namely Coted’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal.
Digital security and safety have become increasingly important in today’s interconnected world. With the rapid advancement of technology and widespread use of the internet and digital platforms, individuals and organisations face a range of risks and threats in the digital space such as attack via malicious code, software and hardware failure, espionage etc. The need to protect sensitive information, ensure privacy, and safeguard against cyber attacks has become a critical concern.
Objective
- The objective of the training of trainers is to enhance the capacity of WACSI’s pool of trainers within its Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Technology for development Units. This will empower them to effectively contribute to building the capacity of target organisations participating in the project and enable them to identify strategic opportunities for advocacy and in digital security and resilience in the region.
Specific Deliverables
- The consultant will:
- Agree on the ToR with WACSI
- Submit a training budget
- Prepare an assessment report on the need of the participants
- Develop training manual
- Facilitate 5-day training
- Provide technical advice to assist participants to strengthen their policy influencing and advocacy effort around digital security and safety
- Generate a Training of Trainers report
- Provide guidance and support through mentoring
- The selected firm or individual consultant/trainer will be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive training programme focused on policy influencing and advocacy strategies related to digital security and safety. The training should cover but not limited to topics such as:
- Understanding the digital security landscape in West Africa.
- Analysing existing digital security policies and laws.
- Mapping and engaging key stakeholders and policymakers on digital security and rights.
- Building effective advocacy campaigns for digital security.
- Using technology tools for advocacy and engagement.
- Monitoring and evaluating policy influencing and advocacy in the digital space.
Methodology
- The training will be week-long and conducted in-person. It is scheduled to take place in July 2023 at a venue to be determined.
- The selected firm or individual consultant/trainer should ensure interactive and participatory learning methods to enhance the skills and knowledge of the WACSI staff.
Duration
- The timeline for the entire assignment covers from July to August 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
- Required Experience and Qualification:
- Strong knowledge on digital security, policy influencing and advocacy, and policy making institutions at national, regional, and global level.
- At least five (5) years of experience in training design and delivery.
- Proof of previous engagement with non-profit organisations in a similar capacity, demonstrating expertise in policy influencing and advocacy.
