Deadline: 30-Jun-25
A new organizational support program has been launched to provide small-scale financial assistance to human rights organizations operating in Türkiye. This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at empowering civil society to combat impunity and promote accountability. It is designed to enhance the operational capacity and sustainability of grassroots organizations working under challenging conditions.
The program is particularly focused on groups that are engaged in issues such as personal security, protection from torture or ill-treatment, and the fight against impunity. It also supports organizations that monitor and document violations of freedom of expression, assembly, and association, as well as those addressing issues related to gender equality, prison conditions, and legal accountability mechanisms.
Through this program, a total of 15 organizations will each receive financial support of EUR 2,500. These funds can be used for a wide range of activities that contribute to organizational capacity building, including trainings, panels, and workshops. Support can also cover monitoring and documentation efforts, awareness-raising campaigns, trial observation initiatives, and local or national network-building among civil society actors.
In addition, the funding can be used for field or desktop research in the thematic areas listed, and for publishing findings that help to inform the public and promote accountability. A key goal of the program is to encourage collaboration, solidarity, and the strengthening of local civil society networks.
Organizations eligible for support must be legally registered as associations or foundations in Türkiye. Given the country’s current political constraints, individual applicants (natural persons) may also apply if they collaborate with a registered organization. The program especially encourages applications from organizations based outside the major cities of Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir, in an effort to reach smaller or more regionally focused groups.
This opportunity provides vital support for organizations committed to advancing human rights and civic freedoms in Türkiye, helping them to grow stronger and more resilient in the face of ongoing challenges.
