The International Center for the Law of the Non-Profit Sector (ICNL) is pleased to invite the presentation of applications from civil society organizations in Argentina for a grant of up to US $ 20,000 to carry out activities related to the legal challenges that affect CSOs in the country.
ICNL is an international nonprofit organization that promotes an enabling legal environment for civil society, freedom of association and citizen participation worldwide. ICNL has provided technical assistance and research to support the reform of laws affecting civil society organizations (CSOs) in more than 100 countries. They turn to a worldwide network of partners and experts to produce innovative research and analysis on legal issues affecting civil society.
Benefits of grant
The grant will support the efforts of local partners to:
- Assess the changing legal environment in Argentina to identify legal challenges for civil society in the context of Argentine international and comparative law;
- Raise awareness regarding legal issues evaluated;
- Advance collective action to promote or defend the civic space.
ICNL is interested in particular receive:
- Proposals to identify and address the legal challenges facing diverse communities, including associations dedicated to the promotion of LGBT rights, indigenous and / or environmental;
- Proposals that consider not only the laws and practices of national implementation, but also state and / or local laws in one or more jurisdictions;
- Proposals seeking to identify provincial or local laws or jurisdictions with good implementation practices that could serve as models for other jurisdictions.
Subjects eligible for grants
The legal environment for civil society in Argentina consists of a wide range of laws, and proposals related to various relevant laws will be considered in the competition. Some illustrative examples of issues to be considered are the challenges related laws and practices governing the rights of civil society to:
- To create and operate a non-profit organization with formal recognition;
- Organize and participate in peaceful protests and meetings;
- Participate in activities related to anti-corruption activities;
- Organized, formally or informally, to promote and defend indigenous and environmental rights; or
- Express opinions, even through digital media.
Eligibility Criteria
- This call is open to individuals or organizations, including CSOs and academic institutions.
