Deadline: 31-Dec-2026
The Pebble Trust supports projects that contribute to building a more sustainable, fair, and low-carbon society through stronger local economies and resilient communities.
The Trust prioritises projects that address critical environmental issues at a local level, strengthen collaborative community networks and alliances, enable local people to gain new skills and capabilities, and demonstrate a viable pathway to financial sustainability. Particular interest is given to grassroots organisations challenging unsustainable practices, applicants attentive to equality, equity and fairness, small to medium-sized projects where Pebble Trust funding forms a major part of project costs, and projects where the funding will make a real difference in making the initiative happen.
The Pebble Trust provides grants of up to £10,000 for projects that align with its charitable objectives and benefit the wider community. Applications are accepted from charities, community groups, businesses, and individuals, provided they can clearly demonstrate how the proposed project contributes to a sustainable, fair, and low-carbon society.
The Trust mainly supports projects located in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, including areas such as Argyll and the Islands, Caithness and Sutherland, Inner Moray Firth, Badenoch and Strathspey, Lochaber, Skye and Wester Ross, Moray, Orkney, the Outer Hebrides, and Shetland. Applications for projects with a strategic Scotland-wide impact are also considered.
In addition, the Trust maintains a small annual budget for projects in the global south as part of its commitment to fairness. At present, this support is available only to Community Energy Malawi due to established connections and due diligence considerations.
The Pebble Trust does not support projects that benefit only one person rather than the wider community, work that has already taken place, projects outside the eligible geographical areas, or applications from individual students and student research projects.
