2022 India Australia Business & Community Alliance Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2022 India Australia Business & Community Alliance (IABCA) Awards to celebrate the India-Australia relationship whilst simultaneously contributing to its development.

Through the IABCA Awards, they invite you to share stories of bi-lateral success across social impact initiatives and trade & investment. Featuring twelve categories recognising excellence across the fields of science, research, innovation and the circular economy, IABCA presents a major opportunity to further strength the India- Australia relationship by acknowledging achievements on a global stage.

Categories & Criteria

2022 IABCA Awards Categories

  • Australia India Impact Award:
    • Individual: IABCA Australia India Impact award recognises the contributions of an individual, (living or working across the two nations) OR an organisation or project that adds value to the bilateral relationship. The category celebrates projects and organisations that have expanded from Australia to India or India to Australia.
    • Criteria
      • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the nominee has demonstrated excellence in their field
      • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the project/nominee has demonstrated innovation through novel strategies, business ideas, or initiatives
      • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the nominee has generated an impact in their new nation through their project or made an impact within the organisation
      • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the project/nominee has inspired others to travel to Australia or India to pursue a career or business venture
      • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the project/ nominee has enhanced bilateral relations between India and Australia

  • Australia India Science, Research & Development Award: Central to the purpose of this award is the recognition and support of outstanding contributions to the advancement of science, technology and research made by an organisation or an individual. Entry is open – but not limited to – academics, researchers, doctors, scientists, institutions, and universities.

  • Business Woman of the Year: This award recognises outstanding achievements of a female leader who has built a successful business or career over time.

    • Please address the award criteria Consistently demonstrated exceptional and progressive leadership

  • Business Leader or Professional of the Year: This award recognises outstanding achievements of a business leader, professional or researcher in middle or senior management who has built a successful career and is over 35 years of age.

    • Please address the award criteria Ongoing professional development

  • Circular Economy Award: Are you an innovator, disrupting your industry and showing that new ways of doing business are possible? This award recognises businesses, organisations, projects, and people shaping the circular economy. The Circular Economy Award will put the circular model approach adopted into the spotlight through a project or in its entirety. Entry is open to all businesses, projects, organisations and people whose core operating principles support the values of the Circular Economy.

  • Creative Economy Award: This award acknowledges the achievements of an organisation or project that has promoted, leveraged, or strengthened the creative economy across the two nations. Creative economies contribute to cultural diversity, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and technological advancement. Projects could include, but are not limited to, software & interactive content such as VR and AR, architecture, game design, visual arts, music and performing arts, film, television, radio, and fashion.

  • Community Services Excellence Award: This award recognises the outstanding achievements of an organisation in relation to community engagement, empowerment, and integration. Key project work could include, but is not limited to, sports, creative arts or social impact initiatives that strengthen and bring the two nations closer.

  • Excellence in Trade & Investment: This award recognises the accomplishments of organisations and projects who have generated new trade and investment opportunities between India and Australia. Applicants could include organisations who import and/or export goods and services between India and Australia, or projects that have supported the trade and investment relationship between India and Australia such as conferences, trade shows, business delegations, etc.

    • Please address the award criteria Demonstrated need for the product, service offering or project across India and/or Australia
    • Please address the award criteria Extent to which the organisation has been successful across India and/or Australia OR extent to which the project has supported trade and investment relations between India and/or Australia

    • Please address the award criteria The organisation/project has shown evidence for long-term success and scalability across India and/or Australia
  • Micro Business of the Year: Micro Business of the year is defined as a business with less than 5 employees. This award recognises outstanding achievement and contribution made by a microbusiness.

    • Please address the award criteria Company’s growth over time. This may include factors such as staff numbers, annual turnover, number and/or range of products
    • Please address the award criteria Key lessons learned from successfully overcoming challenges
    • Please address the award criteria Firms most successful marketing and sales strategy
    • Please address the award criteria Efficient management of financial and staffing resources, good governance practices, transparency and accountability, and corporate social responsibility
  • SME of the Year: Small-to-medium enterprises – defined as economic groups with turnover of $2 million to $250 million. This award recognises outstanding achievement and contribution made by an SME.
