In 2023, two events are planned to celebrate the achievements of those nominated:
- Nominees Recognition Ceremony – 19 January 2023 at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery
- Australia Day Awards Presentation – 26 January 2023 at Brolga Theatre
Eligibility Criteria

Citizen of the Year

To be eligible for the Citizen of the Year Award, the nominee must:
- Reside within the Fraser Coast Regional Council Area, or alternatively where this is not the case, the nomination must demonstrate that a significant contribution has been made by the nominee to the Fraser Coast Regional Council community and that they are considered to be part of the community.
- Not have received the Citizen of the Year award in the last five years.

Young Citizen of the Year

To be eligible for the Young Citizen of the Year Award, the nominee must:
- Reside within the Fraser Coast Regional Council Area, or alternatively where this is not the case, the nomination must demonstrate that a significant contribution has been made by the nominee to the Fraser Coast Regional Council community and that they are considered to be part of the community
- Be under the age of 26 on the 26th of January 2023.
- Not have received the Young Citizen of the Year award in the last five years

Community Group or Organisation of the Year

To be eligible for the Community Group or Organisation of the Year award, the nominee must:
- Be a local community group or organisation based within the Fraser Coast Regional Council area or alternatively, where this is not the case, the nomination must demonstrate that a significant contribution has been made by the nominee to the Fraser Coast Regional Council community and that they are considered to be part of the community.
- Not have received the Community Group or Organisation of the Year award in the last five years.
- Not be a commercial or "for profit" group or organisation.

Community Project or Event of the Year

To be eligible for the Community Event of the Year Award, the nominated project or event must:
- Have occurred within the Fraser Coast Regional Council Local Government Area
- Not have received the Community Event of the Year award in the last five years.
- Not be a commercial or "for profit" event.
- Be delivered by a community committee or not for profit group.

To be eligible for the Community Event of the Year Award, the nominated project or event must:

Volunteer of the Year Award

To be eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award, The nominee must:
- Reside within the Fraser Coast Regional Council Area, or alternatively where this is not the case, the nomination must demonstrate that a significant contribution has been made by the nominee to the Fraser Coast Regional Council community and that they are considered to be part of the community.
- Not have received the Volunteer of the Year Award in the last five years.
