Deadline: 11-Aug-2025
The Greater Dandenong City Council is now accepting applications for its Community Development Grants. This funding opportunity is open to not-for-profit community groups and organisations aiming to strengthen community capacity, foster social inclusion, promote healthy partnerships, prevent family violence, support gender equity, and encourage community harmony and participation.
The program’s objectives include supporting a diverse range of services and programs that address community needs, encouraging active community involvement, and aligning with the Council’s strategic goals. It also seeks to reduce social disadvantage, build organisational capacity, strengthen local partnerships, increase intercultural understanding, and promote inclusion for marginalised groups.
Projects are encouraged to respond to emerging community needs such as family violence prevention, gender equity, increasing women and girls’ participation in sports, social support for newly arrived women, CALD women’s health and wellbeing, and promoting healthy eating across the community.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available for projects that help improve community skills, increase access and inclusion, enhance safety and wellbeing, foster collaboration, and build intercultural connections.
To be eligible, applicants must be a not-for-profit incorporated association or be auspiced by one, serve the Greater Dandenong area, and have met previous grant obligations. They must also hold public liability insurance of at least $20 million or provide proof of coverage for the proposed activities. Projects must be implemented within the designated grant period.
Individual artists can apply for community-based arts or cultural projects up to $5,000. Projects over that amount must be developed in partnership with local organisations under a separate stream. School applications will only be considered if the activity benefits the broader community and is outside core school responsibilities.
The program does not accept applications from individuals (except for specified artist-led projects), government agencies (unless meeting specific criteria), organisations with outstanding acquittals, or political organisations.
