The Reliance Foundation is committed to strengthening young people’s access to higher education in India by supporting 5,000 meritorious students with undergraduate scholarships every year.
The scholarships aim to enable students to become successful professionals and realise their dreams, unlocking their potential to lift themselves and their communities up and contribute towards India’s future socio-economic development.
Scholars are expected to demonstrate Excellence, by being committed to excellence in spirit and action in everything they pursue, both academic and non-academic, having a mindset of giving their best, seeking new and better ways to approach challenges, and continually working to improve themselves. They should also show Leadership Potential, with the ambition to become India’s and the World’s Leaders of Tomorrow. Integrity is crucial, as scholars should strive to be honest and forthright, taking accountability and responsibility for their actions, decisions, and behaviours. A strong sense of Community Commitment is also valued, shown by a moral force of character and instinct to lead in their communities for the advancement of society, and a commitment to work for social good and give back to society. Embodying a Growth Mindset and the spirit that “Growth is Life,” scholars should dream big and have an ever-evolving spirit, a love of learning, and a desire to continually develop and improve themselves and support others to do the same. Finally, they should possess Courage, being resilient, patient, and tenacious, and embracing challenges with passion and conviction as opportunities to grow.
The programme will also aim to encourage applications by girls and specially-abled students. Selected scholars will receive a scholarship of up to Rs. 2 lakhs over the duration of their degree programme. In addition to the financial grant, the scholarships will provide scholars an opportunity to be part of a vibrant alumni network and an enabling support system.
