The Tote Board Arts Fund provides support to local artists and arts groups in bringing the arts to communities and creating shared experiences for people to connect with one another.
The Tote Board Arts Fund is open to individual artists, registered arts organisations and collectives for projects that fulfill specific criteria. Criteria: Allow audiences/ participants to meet/connect with/better understand people from another social group (e.g. age group, ethnicity). Increase audiences/participants’: Awareness and appreciation of local arts groups and art form practices; Sense of national identity and pride; Appreciation for harmony across diverse social backgrounds and social values.
The Tote Board Arts Fund supports projects in a variety of art forms, including music, dance, theatre, musical theatre, and multi-disciplinary performances. It also supports visual arts exhibitions, including photography, and literary arts events like readings and poetry performances. Projects should demonstrate a well-designed approach to meet at least one of the outlined criteria.
The fund is open to individual Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents who are recognised as practising artists. Arts organisations registered as a non-profit entity or a society, and informal groups or collectives where the majority of members are Singaporean Citizens or PRs, are also eligible. Collaborations with foreigners are permitted as long as the lead applicant and at least half the artistic team are Singaporean or PR.
Projects from for-profit organisations are not eligible for this fund. The grant does not support projects presented under a school’s auspices or as part of a curriculum, nor those intended specifically for academic purposes. Projects for fundraising, not for public consumption, or those held at a religious venue are not eligible. The fund also excludes projects that are religious or political in nature, training courses, research projects, publications, or international touring. Applications will not be considered if the project has already commenced, is incomplete, or submitted late. Applicants with pending reports or outstanding debts to NAC will also be ineligible, as will those who have already received three Arts Fund grants in the current financial year.
The fund provides up to 50% of a realistic budget for all eligible projects, with a cap of $60,000 per financial year for each applicant. The financial year runs from April 1 to March 31.
To apply, you must submit a short synopsis of up to 500 words, a projected income and expenditure, and a CV of key personnel. For visual arts, artwork samples are required, while for theatre and literary arts projects, complete scripts or manuscripts are necessary. The Secretariat may also request samples of work or a letter of support for individuals and unregistered artist collectives.
For grants below $10,000, a Financial Report is required. For grants of $10,000 and above, a Certified Statement of Accounts from an accountant registered with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants or an equivalent international body must be provided.
Assessment Criteria: Community Engagement and Outreach, Artistic Merit, Capacity and commitment to execute the project. Application closes on 15 December 2025.
