The International Centre for Climate Change and Development has developed a year-long Youth Fellowship Programme to foster meaningful youth engagement in climate resilience and development.
This initiative empowers young individuals to explore climate challenges, co-develop solutions, and build their capacity to influence change locally, nationally, and globally. This initiative supports youth, especially young women and men from vulnerable communities build their skills, confidence, and capacity to lead. By participating in hands-on learning and collaborative projects, fellows grow as changemakers who can influence both policy and practice in the climate arena.
For the ICCCAD Youth Fellowship Programme, individuals of all genders, classes, ethnicities, religions, abilities, and identities are encouraged to apply. The remaining eligibility criteria for fellowship candidates are as follows: Must be a citizen of Bangladesh. Age must be between 18 to 30 years. Undergraduate students or recent graduates. Basic knowledge and a strong motivation to work on climate change. Working experience on climate change issues is a plus. Possess good analytical, writing, and speaking skills. Demonstration of leadership practice. Willing to learn and exchange ideas. Willing to travel to national and international programmes and field visits.
Participants will undergo several capacity-building programmes including a residential workshop, a field visit to a climate-vulnerable area of Bangladesh, and online classes on climate change and development issues. Additionally, participants will have opportunities to attend national and international conferences on climate change. Top performing participants will receive small funding opportunities to implement their youth solutions and innovative ideas on climate change development. They will also get the opportunity to negotiate local climate change problems with policymakers and decision-makers and to become a trainer in future youth fellowship programmes.
The Fellowship programme is a one-year commitment. During this period, fellows will have the opportunity to get guidance from mentors, develop their projects, and execute activities that have a meaningful impact on climate change and development. Youth fellows are encouraged to connect with other ICCCAD youth fellow alumni and will also get the opportunity to join or work with other youth programme initiatives and programmes of ICCCAD. Upon completion of the fellowship programme, a certificate will be awarded to participants.
