The Auckland Council is now accepting applications for the Small Grants Program. This program supports a variety of community projects in areas such as arts, community development, environment, events, heritage, and sports and recreation.
The Papakura Local Board encourages applications that reflect the community’s goals and align with local priorities. These include celebrating Papakura’s history, Māori identity, and culture, supporting Māori stewardship of the environment, and fostering community and economic development. The program also values projects that promote social cohesion, community wellbeing, environmental enjoyment, climate change action, and the use of local open spaces and recreational facilities.
Additional priorities include developing safe cycleways and walkways, encouraging local business growth, and offering regular cultural and arts events. Grants range from $500 to $2,000 and are intended to support projects that are meaningful and beneficial to the Papakura area.
Higher priority will be given to projects or events held in the local area, those that involve other funding sources or partnerships, and those aligning with healthy environment principles. Projects must originate locally and show a clear benefit to residents.
Lower priority will be given to fundraising events, and applications primarily covering costs like travel, salaries, vehicles, electronics, or catering. Applications showing minimal financial need may also rank lower.
Certain applications are not eligible for funding. This includes applicants who haven’t submitted satisfactory reports for previous grants, those without quotes, or those requesting additional funds for already-supported projects in the same year. Projects that have already ta
