Deadline: 24-Aug-2025
The InterGlobe Foundation has launched the fourth edition of the InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships to celebrate and promote India’s rich heritage and cultural diversity. This year, the focus is on documenting the ‘associated intangible heritage’ and ‘associated craft traditions’ linked to significant built heritage sites across the country.
Fellows are encouraged to explore not just the architectural aspects of heritage sites but also their deeper cultural layers. This includes ceremonies, rituals, festivals, craftsmanship, and local customs that add meaning and historical value to these sites. The idea is to capture how these elements shape the identity and legacy of each location.
Themes could include diverse topics such as the transformation of Kolkata during Durga Puja, ancient stone inscriptions, traditional garden layouts, or processional festivals like Rath Yatra and Muharram. Fellows may also explore folklore and stories that add depth to the cultural fabric of these sites.
Two fellowships will be awarded in 2025. Each selected fellow will receive INR 2,00,000 to support their research over a period of three to six months starting in October 2025. All submitted work will be published on the InterGlobe website and social media, and may be featured in a future public exhibition.
Applicants are expected to document their findings using mediums such as photography, essays, or illustrations. Each proposal should include clearly defined deliverables, with specific details on output length or format. Fellows must also submit a community-focused strategic intervention plan to help safeguard the heritage in question. A format for this plan will be provided later.
The fellowship is open to individuals from the liberal arts, including students, faculty, researchers, and creative practitioners. Preference may be given to those with prior knowledge or experience in the chosen subject. Applicants must be Indian citizens living in India, aged 18 or older by 1 August 2025, and hold an Indian bank account.
An external jury will review all proposals. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to discuss their ideas in further detail through interviews or video calls. Final selection will depend on proposal clarity, subject relevance, expected deliverables, and how the project aligns with InterGlobe’s mission to preserve Indian heritage.
Applications must be submitted in English. Each applicant must include a 500–1000 word proposal that identifies the intangible heritage or craft tradition they wish to document and explains why it is important to preserve.
