Deadline: 31-Oct-2025
The Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) provides small grants up to USD 20,000 for not-for-profit individuals, community groups, NGOs, and other development-focused entities in the Federated States of Micronesia to implement projects that improve living conditions, support sustainable growth, and have immediate community impact.
Focus Areas: Projects in community and/or rural development, education, gender equality, health and disability, sport, youth, human rights, the environment, small scale infrastructure, economic empowerment, agriculture and ad hoc humanitarian relief; where applicants and/or communities make a contribution in labour, materials, transport or cash; pursue innovative approaches, projects and partners; that are achievable and have sustainable outcomes; and/or that provide educational or vocational/skills training and have a clear plan for measuring the success of training.
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) aims to fund small-scale projects that deliver practical and immediate benefits to communities in the Federated States of Micronesia. Projects should be designed to be contained, achievable, and with limited timelines. Applications are evaluated based on their conformity with DAP objectives, clear presentation of costs and developmental benefits, appropriateness of proposed expenditure with supporting evidence, achievable and sustainable outcomes, and the overall soundness of the project’s objectives and design.
Applicants are encouraged to contribute significantly to their projects through labour, materials, or cash to increase the likelihood of funding approval. While DAP provides support for various developmental initiatives, certain costs are not eligible. These include microcredit schemes or loan projects, start-up capital for commercial ventures, purchase or rental of property, vehicles, and major assets, routine operational costs, staff salaries, consultant fees, travel expenses, sponsorship of major tournaments or cultural displays without clear developmental benefit, construction of major infrastructure, and activities promoting religious or political purposes.
The DAP application process is fully online, and applicants are required to submit their proposals via the official portal. For projects to be successful, proposals must clearly define objectives and expected outputs while demonstrating practical benefits to the community. This program is designed to strengthen community-led development by providing financial support for small but impactful initiatives, ensuring that local participation and contribution are central to project success.
