Nominations are now open for the Bayside City Council’s Australia Day Awards.
The Australia Day Awards are celebrated annually in Bayside on 26 January. Bayside residents who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years are eligible.
Categories
The award categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Environmental Achievement – Individual
- Environmental Achievement – Organisation
- The Australia Day Environment Awards recognises the environmental excellence of individual Bayside residents or organisations that take leadership in the local community with an initiative, project and/or activity. This award recognises those residents, schools and businesses that aim to empower and inspire others, form partnerships and show commitment and perseverance.
Eligibility Criteria
Type of nomination:
- Australia Day Citizen Award: The person must be 27 years or older on January 26 2023.
- Australia Day Young Citizen Award: The person must be under 27 years of age on January 26 2023.
- Australia Day Senior Citizen Award: The person must be over 65 years of age on January 26 2023.
- Community Event of the Year Award: For the group or organisation who has staged the most outstanding community event during the year. This includes online events.
- Australia Day Environmental Achievement Award – Organisation: Organisations includes community groups, schools and businesses.
- Australia Day Environmental Achievement Award – Individual:

- Using natural resources wisely
- Reducing everyday impacts
- Responding to climate change
- Living more sustainably in the home
