Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
The Australian Consulate-General in Mumbai is inviting applications for its Direct Aid Program which provides small grants for development activities aimed at strengthening communities across Goa, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The focus is on Skilling and education, Agriculture, Diversity, equality, and inclusion (including women and girls’ empowerment, disability, and LGBTQI+ inclusion), Sports for development, and WASH.
Grants typically go up to AUD 28,000 (equivalent to around INR 15 lakhs), supporting small-scale, sustainable development projects that create real, practical benefits for local communities. Previous recipients include initiatives like Go Sports, which enhances opportunities for both able-bodied and para-athletes, and BAIF Livelihoods, which helps rural women farmers improve agricultural productivity and climate resilience through capacity building and infrastructure development.
Applicants should present proposals that are clearly defined and sustainable, demonstrating how their project will continue to provide value beyond the grant period. Projects must show commitment from the local community or beneficiaries, indicating that outcomes will be long-lasting and community-driven. The funding must be used for the purposes agreed upon with the Consulate, and any changes in project scope should be approved before reallocating funds.
Accountability and transparency are vital: successful applicants are expected to sign a funding agreement, maintain detailed financial records, submit progress and final reports, facilitate site visits by representatives from the Australian Consulate-General, and publicly acknowledge the support of the Australian Government in their project communications.
