Deadline: 20-Oct-2025
UNDP Georgia, through the Greening the Future Project (GFP), has announced a new Call for Proposals to support innovative, community-driven environmental projects in the municipalities of Khobi and Poti.
This grant opportunity focuses on advancing the green transition through six thematic areas, offering funding and tailored support to organizations that present impactful, inclusive, and sustainable solutions.
The initiative encourages proposals across six priority areas: Green Demonstrators and Practical Pilots, Digital Innovation and Smart Solutions, Green Skills and Vocational Education, Eco-Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Services, Community Climate Resilience and Sustainable Living, and Green Leadership Fellows for Climate Change. Each theme is designed to support local innovation, climate action, and inclusive development through practical projects that empower communities and foster long-term impact.
Funding amounts vary by theme, with Lot 1 through Lot 4 offering grants between USD 10,000 and USD 25,000. Lot 5 supports smaller-scale community climate resilience projects with funding between USD 5,000 and USD 15,000, while Lot 6, dedicated to Green Leadership Programme alumni, offers between USD 5,000 and USD 10,000. All projects must be completed within seven months from the date of agreement, including one month allocated for final reporting.
Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate community engagement, practical and replicable green solutions, and clear contributions to a just and inclusive green transition. Special attention will be given to projects targeting vulnerable groups, including women, youth, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and other marginalized communities. Proposals are also expected to incorporate digital tools and data-driven approaches for improved planning and decision-making.
A key feature of this call is the inclusion of a crowdfunding component. Applicants are encouraged to mobilize at least five percent of their total project budget through community-based fundraising efforts. UNDP will provide winning applicants with additional support through tailored mentorship and training on developing and launching successful crowdfunding campaigns. This approach is intended to enhance community ownership and the long-term sustainability of each project.
Eligible applicants include non-profit civil society organizations, community-based organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions. All applicants must demonstrate relevant experience in environmental innovation, green skills development, digital sustainability solutions, or community-based climate action. Coalitions with NGOs and private sector actors are encouraged and may strengthen the proposal.
This call presents a valuable opportunity for local actors to lead the way in building greener, more resilient communities. Through inclusive design, practical implementation, and community engagement, selected projects will contribute to a more sustainable future for the municipalities of Khobi and Poti.
