Deadline: 20-Jul-2025
The Corona Management Systems is inviting applications for its Malaria Modelling Fellowship Program aimed at enhancing the mathematical modelling skills of public health professionals in Nigeria. This partially funded fellowship is designed to fit around participants’ routine work, providing essential skills to support malaria and infectious disease control efforts both nationally and globally.
Participants will follow a comprehensive curriculum covering core modelling techniques, detailed malaria epidemiology including transmission dynamics, and additional modules aimed at career advancement. The program is funded by the Gates Foundation and conducted in partnership with Corona Management Systems (CMS), the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The fellowship seeks to increase the number of doctoral and post-doctoral level mathematical modelers with malaria expertise in Nigerian institutions. It also aims to boost the capacity of NMEP in using modelling for strategic planning and evaluation and to strengthen the Nigeria Field Epidemiology Training Program (NFETP) in delivering modelling fellowships.
Tuition fees and refreshments during in-person training sessions will be covered by the program.
The fellowship is open exclusively to Nigerians residing in the country. Applicants must be public health professionals with at least three years of experience and hold a master’s degree or specialized training in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health. Eligible candidates should be affiliated with Nigerian public, private, non-profit, or non-governmental institutions involved in the One Health ecosystem.
Priority will be given to applicants under 50 years old. The fellowship particularly encourages applications from post-doctoral researchers and junior lecturers in epidemiology and biostatistics, public health residents, data management specialists in malaria and emergency response programs, monitoring and evaluation experts with quantitative data skills, and public health officers working in relevant sectors.
Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
