Deadline: 31-Jul-2025
Applications are now open for the Oamaru Community Fund, which aims to support those who care for people, place, and the future. Mercury, the organization behind the fund, is committed to supporting local communities throughout Aotearoa.
Although their team is spread across the country, Oamaru holds a special place as the location of one of their national contact centres.
Grants typically range from $200 to $2,000 and must be used for specific, future-based purposes. Community organisations are encouraged to apply, especially if their projects reflect Mercury’s values and priorities.
All expenses covered by the grant must be incurred within New Zealand, except for overseas purchases of items not available locally.
If the funding is sought for general running costs such as power, landline telephone, rates, or building insurance, applicants need to submit copies of invoices from the past three months.
Applications requesting support for existing salary positions must include a signed employment contract that clearly outlines the contract term, employee’s name and pay rate, along with a position description.
The fund does not support individuals or projects that are part of a government-funded contract. Instead, it seeks to support events, projects, and initiatives that demonstrate care for communities and people (manaakitanga), a commitment to protecting the environment for future generations (kaitiakitanga), and a focus on sustainable growth and impact.
