Are you a registered NPO in the arts sector? Apply now for funding to support projects that promote creativity, skills transfer, and community development in Nelson Mandela Bay.
This initiative, offered under the Policy Governing Financial Assistance to External Organizations (Grant-in-Aid, Version 4), is aimed at supporting developmental and transformative arts programmes that reflect the Municipality’s commitment to advancing culture and creativity within the region.
The grant provides registered Non-Profit Organizations with an opportunity to access funding of up to R250,000. Support is available for projects that form part of the mainstream Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality annual arts calendar, as well as for community initiatives that contribute to arts development. Priority will be given to activities that foster training, skills development, and audience engagement, ensuring that the arts continue to thrive as a vital force in community growth.
Eligibility is open to NPOs based in Nelson Mandela Bay that are registered under the NPO Act No. 71 of 1997. Organizations must already be implementing arts and cultural programmes within the Metro. A wide range of disciplines are supported, including theatre, visual arts, music, dance, craft, literature, poetry, and multidisciplinary projects. Projects must be completed no later than 31 May 2026 to be considered for funding.
Applicants are reminded that compliance with reporting requirements is essential. Any organization that has failed to submit reports for previous Small Arts Grant funding, or that includes members who previously received funding under this programme and did not meet reporting obligations, will be disqualified from consideration.
This grant offers a significant opportunity for local arts organizations to strengthen their programmes, invest in skills, and contribute meaningfully to the cultural landscape of Nelson Mandela Bay. By providing targeted support to NPOs, the Municipality continues to empower creative communities and nurture artistic innovation across the Metro.
