Deadline: 24-Oct-2025
Sports clubs and community organisations across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are invited to apply for the Sports Development Grant Scheme, offering financial support to enhance local participation in physical activity and sport.
The scheme is divided into three main categories: Sports Development Grants, Major Equipment Grants, and Minor Equipment Grants.
The Sports Development Grant supports new initiatives aimed at encouraging more people to get involved in sport. Clubs can apply for up to €1,000 or 50% of the total project cost. To be eligible, projects must contribute meaningfully to local sports development and must not duplicate existing programmes. Only clubs affiliated with a recognised National Governing Body or registered agency will be considered.
In addition, clubs can apply for Sports Equipment Grants to co-fund the purchase of equipment that will help get more people active. Major Equipment Grants can provide up to €3,000 or 70% of the cost—rising to €4,000 or 80% for clubs in identified disadvantaged areas. Minor Equipment Grants offer up to €1,500 or 70% of the cost, again increasing to 80% for clubs in disadvantaged communities. Certain equipment and items, including uniforms, coaching supplies, and electronics, are excluded from eligibility.
clubs must be not-for-profit, have a functioning committee, a bank account, and a formal constitution. All funded activities must take place within the county, and clubs must demonstrate financial capacity to match the funding offered. Applications will not be considered from clubs that have breached previous funding terms or failed to submit required documentation.
This grant opportunity offers a valuable chance for clubs to improve facilities, launch new programmes, and boost participation across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. However, careful planning, eligibility compliance, and clear documentation are essential to secure funding. With limited funds available, projects that align closely with the Council’s development goals and show a strong community impact are most likely to succeed.
