Deadline: 06-Aug-2025
The British Embassy Sarajevo is inviting bids for a project aimed at strengthening peaceful interethnic relations in Mostar and its surrounding areas. Proposals should focus on one or more specific goals and clearly state which they intend to address.
One goal is to use sport as a way to bring people from all backgrounds together, including women and girls, especially those who are more resistant to inter-ethnic engagement. The aim is to promote common values and challenge divisive narratives. Another goal is to use music similarly, fostering unity among diverse groups and undermining division.
Addressing and countering inter-ethnic tensions related to football hooliganism in Mostar is also a priority. Additionally, enabling inter-religious cooperation to promote interfaith and interethnic collaboration is seen as a way to reduce tensions and the effects of divided living.
Funding for projects ranges from a minimum of £120,000 to a maximum of £250,000. Only not-for-profit organizations are eligible to bid. This includes international organizations, international NGOs, and local civil society organizations, which may also apply as part of a consortium. Academic and English language courses are not eligible for funding.
Successful projects should have sustainable outcomes and clearly identify their intended impact. Proposals must state which goals they address and explain how they will measure progress towards these goals. The quality of the project will be evaluated based on how well-defined and relevant the outcomes are and how effectively the outputs will achieve change. The ability to leverage additional funding is an advantage.
Value for money will be assessed by comparing the expected outcomes, the funding requested, and any contributions from the institution. Local knowledge and prior experience are also important. Proposals should demonstrate the project team’s understanding of the context and socio-political challenges, previous experience with similar work, and the ability to manage and successfully deliver the project.
