Deadline: 07-Nov-2025
The World Food Day Poster Contest invites children and youth to showcase their creativity by illustrating how better food can lead to a better future. Participants are encouraged to design posters that highlight how food can help build a peaceful, sustainable, and food-secure world where everyone has access to a healthy diet.
The posters should inspire others to take action and imagine a future shaped by collaboration with people, communities, and nature. After creating the artwork, participants need to take a photo or scan their poster and submit it through the form available on the contest website.
Three winners will be chosen in each age category and announced in December. Their work will be promoted by FAO offices globally, and winners will receive a certificate and a surprise gift bag.
A total of 60 posters will be shortlisted across four age groups, with 15 posters from each category. These shortlisted participants will also receive certificates recognizing their achievement. The top three finalists in each group will be selected by a jury and announced on the World Food Day website.
FAO will share the winning posters on its social media platforms and other international channels. If a selected winner is found to be ineligible, untraceable, or unwilling to accept the prize, the FAO reserves the right to reassign the award.
When posters are published, only the contestant’s first initial, full surname, and country will be displayed. No additional personal details will be shared.
The contest is open to children and youth aged 5 to 19 from anywhere in the world. Participants must declare their age at the time of entry and minors need parental or guardian consent.
Participation is free and the competition is divided into four age categories: 5–8, 9–12, 13–15, and 16–19. Only one entry per person is allowed; submitting multiple entries leads to disqualification.
Posters can be hand-drawn or painted using materials like crayons, pencils, watercolors, or mixed media. Digital artwork is also allowed, but photographs are not. Use of generative AI to create content is strictly prohibited, although it may be used for ideation or minor edits.
Text is optional, but if included, it should not exceed 25 words or 100 characters. Personal information such as names, age, or school details must not be included in the artwork.
Submissions must be original and free from logos or photographic images of individuals. Participants are encouraged to read about the contest theme in the World Food Day Activity Book, with younger children receiving guidance from adults.
All posters must be submitted digitally using the official entry form. JPEG is the only accepted file format, and physical submissions will not be considered. Younger participants may require assistance from an adult to complete the online submission process.
