Deadline: 10-Sep-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced a call for expression of interest to empower Indigenous women through nutrition-sensitive interventions and agriculture livelihoods support towards improved food and nutrition security and climate resilience in the Philippines.
The focus areas include communication for development, gender equality and women empowerment, training, capacity building and capacity development, and nutrition – general.
The initiative is part of WFP’s broader work in the Philippines under its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2024–2028, which reflects the “Saving Lives and Changing Lives” agenda by addressing humanitarian and development challenges in partnership with the Government. Within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), WFP is working with communities to strengthen resilience and promote food and nutrition security through people-centred, integrated programmes aligned with the BARMM Food Security and Nutrition Roadmap and national development strategies.
This project specifically focuses on strengthening the capacity and skills of Indigenous women and rural communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change and hazards that threaten their food and nutrition security. It also aims to improve nutrition outcomes by fostering gender-responsive, nutrition-sensitive food systems transformation. Activities will be implemented in Maguindanao Del Norte and Maguindanao Del Sur, targeting Indigenous Peoples and vulnerable groups, particularly women, to equip them with knowledge, skills, and resources for climate-resilient agriculture practices.
The expected results are two-fold: enhancing the resilience of Indigenous and rural women to food insecurity and climate hazards, and improving food and nutrition security outcomes by promoting equitable participation of women in agricultural and livelihood opportunities, with the support of men and boys in their communities.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of sector expertise, experience, local presence, clarity of proposed activities and results, and cost-effectiveness. The project will run from October 15, 2025, to October 15, 2026.
