Deadline: 08-Aug-2025
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is inviting expressions of interest for the Productive Inclusion and Youth Resilience Project for Rural Poor. This initiative aims to reduce monetary poverty among rural youth and address the multidimensional poverty experienced by their families.
The project’s main goal is to improve employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people while increasing their resilience to social, economic, and climatic challenges. It also seeks to enhance the productive capacity of the rural poor, help them gain greater benefits from market participation, and ensure the long-term sustainability and resilience of their economic activities.
The project focuses on building the capabilities of rural youth, helping them create life plans that are resilient to adversity. This includes awareness-raising and training in sustainable development, gender, and human rights in selected priority municipalities.
The thematic focus includes health, particularly adolescent and sexual and reproductive health. The indicative budget for the project is $170,000. It will be implemented in several provinces in the Dominican Republic, including San Cristobal, San Juan, Barahona, San Jose de Ocoa, Peravia, Independence, Azua, and Baoruco.
Expected results include engaging 4,000 rural youth aged 15 to 35, especially those from the most vulnerable groups. These young people will gain knowledge in areas such as gender, inclusion, resilience, food security, nutrition, rights, participation, and sustainable development, which will positively influence their habits and decisions.
The project will also train local civil society organizations in standard tools for reporting, monitoring, and community outreach. Additionally, it will promote youth participation and raise awareness on critical cross-cutting issues to strengthen local capacities and foster informed engagement in project activities.
Proposals will be evaluated based on their relevance to the expected results, cost-effectiveness, sector expertise, local presence, and accountability to communities.
