Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
The Africa Early Childhood Network (AfECN) is inviting expressions of interest to support grassroots advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening policies and investments that prioritize the wellbeing of young children across Africa.
The thematic areas include Maternal Mental Wellbeing, Scalable and Contextual Childcare Models, Translation of Evidence into Policy Action, and Strengthening Grassroots Networks for ECD Advocacy.
AfECN is dedicated to empowering grassroots organizations, advocacy groups, and community-led networks to lead advocacy initiatives that generate evidence, build capacity, and influence policy in early childhood development. By focusing on locally driven action, the initiative aims to mobilize support from the ground up and hold decision-makers accountable to policies that directly benefit children and families.
Applicants are required to structure their proposals with a description of the organization, definition and justification of the problem to be addressed, key objectives and expected outcomes, an implementation plan, organizational capacity and partnerships, and a detailed budget. The budget should not exceed USD 10,000, and the application should be a maximum of five pages.
Eligibility is restricted to networks or advocacy groups, grassroots organizations, professional associations, registered women’s groups, or coalitions of ECD actors with demonstrable experience in the thematic areas. Applicants must also have a clear governance structure, a secretariat to run day-to-day affairs, and proven working experience in community-based interventions or advocacy. Strong partnerships with local communities, authorities, or government agencies are also required.
The seed grant will have a duration of one year and is open to organizations based in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Senegal, Ghana, and Nigeria.
