Call for Nominations for 2021 HESTA Excellence Awards in Australia

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Health Employees Superannuation Trust Australia (HESTA) Excellence Awards to recognise exceptional achievements in a range of settings across aged care, allied health, community services and disability services.

This award recognises an organisation that has excelled in delivering initiatives to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and/or communities.

Award Information

• Winners will share a $60,000 prize pool, courtesy of proud Awards supporter ME- the bank for you.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nominated organisations must be currently providing services in aged care, allied health, community services or disability services in Australia. Suitable nominees are those that go above and beyond the everyday demands of their services.
• Nominees may self-nominate, however self-nominations must be supported by a supervisor/manager/CEO/owner/employer.
• Nominations must demonstrate all of the following:
  • A description of the organisation and the service(s) provided
  • A description of the initiative(s) that has/have improved the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and/or communities
  • Evidence of the impact of the organisation’s work
  • A description of how the initiative(s) could be implemented by other organisations, contributing to a healthier future for all
  • A description of how the prize money will be used to enhance the initiative(s) or how it will be used for professional development.

Terms & Conditions

Terms and conditions for nominating someone for the 2021 HESTA Excellence Awards:

• Finalists in the Team Excellence categories will be invited to attend the HESTA Excellence Awards dinner in Sydney on Wednesday, 25 August 2021, where the winners will be announced. The winners will receive $7,500 courtesy of ME- the bank for you. The identified team leader will accept the prize on behalf of the team (team representative).
• All prizes will be awarded on the condition the finalists and winners agree to accept their prize in person at the HESTA Excellence Awards dinner held on the date listed in point 1 above.
• Finalists attendance at the awards presentation is not transferable. HESTA may alter its events at any time in response to Government recommendations related to social distancing measures, and if the best decision for the event is to move it online or even postpone, HESTA will advise attendees accordingly.
• The prize for finalists includes: 2 x tickets to attend the HESTA Excellence Awards dinner to be held on the date listed in point 1 above, 1 x return economy class airfare to capital city where the awards dinner is held from the finalists’ nearest capital city and 1 night’s accommodation in a standard twin share room at a hotel nominated by HESTA Excellence Awards organising committee close to the dinner venue.
• All transfers to and from airports will be at the finalists’ expense unless otherwise stated in correspondence.
• A credit card will be required to cover any incidental expenses in the hotel.
• The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
• Each finalist (or representative of the team) in the Team Excellence categories will be presented with an award in recognition of their achievement.
• The winners will be chosen from the finalists and announced at the HESTA Excellence Awards dinner, to be held on the date listed in point 1 above.
• The overall winners will be presented with an award, in recognition of their achievement, together with $7,500 , courtesy of proud awards supporter ME
• The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
• Only those nominees that make it through to finalist status will be notified by phone and email after the nomination close-off date by a representative of the HESTA Excellence Awards.
• Finalist’s details such as name, employer/workplace, and other details in relation to the nomination, will be released to the media prior to the awards dinner.
• HESTA, the HESTA Excellence Awards and ME, reserve the right to use any entries, photographs, video, media and / or articles of the finalists and winners of this award for promotional purposes.
• HESTA will contact the intended finalists / winners to obtain their approval to use any entries, photographs, video, media and / or articles for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media with or without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the finalists / winner.
• Nominators and finalists must agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Excellence Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.
• Nominators must notify the nominees employer before making a nomination and complete the declaration prior to submitting nomination.
• The Judging Panel’s decision is final and made at its sole and complete discretion.
• No correspondence will be entered into.
• The Judging Panel and organisers of the HESTA Excellence Awards retain full discretion in awarding prizes.
• Award nominees retain responsibility to maintain an appropriate standard of professional conduct, and must immediately notify HESTA if they are or become the subject of any investigation, findings, judgement of current proceeding, including but limited to findings, in relation to fraud, misrepresentation or dishonesty, in any administrative, civil or criminal proceedings in any country, and must declare to HESTA if any standard of professional conduct has been compromised.
• Award nominees retain responsibility to not engage in conduct which brings or has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.
• HESTA reserves the right to, at any time, verify a nomination or nominee, and disqualify a nominee HESTA has reason to believe has submitted an entry not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, or has engaged in conduct that has the potential to bring HESTA into disrepute.
• For every submitted nomination, the nominee will receive 1 certificate in recognition of their contribution to the sector.
• Certificates will be distributed to nominators for presentation to their nominee after the awards take place on date indicated in point 1 above.
