Deadline: 14-Sep-2025
Whether you’re offering free vaccinations at a veterinary clinic, teaching children about safety, or caring for street dogs while campaigning against culling, the World Rabies Day Awards is an opportunity to share your impactful work with a global audience committed to ending rabies.
In its 19th year, the World Rabies Day (WRD) theme no longer includes the word “rabies,” highlighting how firmly the movement has taken root. Individuals, organizations, and policymakers alike are encouraged to take meaningful action now.
The year 2025 marks a decade of the World Rabies Day Awards, which continue to celebrate dedicated individuals and groups making significant contributions to rabies prevention and elimination worldwide.
The awards honor outstanding efforts across four categories: Veterinary Clinic Award, Education Champion, Vaccination Champion, and Animal Welfare Champion. Nominations can be submitted for yourself or for someone else making a difference.
This year’s campaign emphasizes action at all levels. “You” encourages individuals to vaccinate their pets, learn about rabies, and support policy change. “Me” urges people to lead by example and contribute to their communities. “Community” emphasizes collective efforts like vaccination drives and educational programs.
Awardees will receive USD 1,500 in financial support, an additional USD 1,500 worth of in-kind support from GARC, and official recognition with a plaque and certificate.
To get involved, you can host an awareness event, nominate a rabies prevention hero, take a free GARC online course, or amplify messages through social media and local advocacy.
