The Heinrich Boell Foundation Yerevan Office – South Caucasus Region announces a call for proposals for projects implemented in Armenia in 2022.
They will support initiatives in the following program directions:
- Democratic Political Culture and Civil Society;
- Ecological Sustainability and Urban Development.
They promote gender equality, democracy, and human rights, social and environmental justice. In line with the hbs guiding values, they support initiatives which form and strengthen an inclusive political culture that opens room for public participation in democratic development, socio-ecological transformation, and gender democracy. They are part of the global civil society and support local grass-root initiatives that strive for building participatory and just societies.
Priorities
- Within the framework of the “Democratic Political Culture and Civil Society” program direction, the Foundation will give priority to proposals that support civic activities and/or political education in the following directions:
- Promoting discussions on the causes and consequences of the polarization of post-war society;
- Initiatives that support inclusive political culture and ensure societal participation in discussions about Armenia’s democratic development;
- Rethinking the Soviet past and memory politics, bringing a pluralistic and critical approach into the public discourse;
- Promoting new ways (including artistic forms, such as exhibitions, documentaries, performances, etc.) of public participation in discussing and addressing local/regional political and societal issues in Armenia;
- Supporting researches/initiatives/events/publications aiming to diversify and enrich the gender equality agenda, activities and knowledge;
- Initiatives that support the interests of diverse societal groups (e.g. ethnic and religious minorities, LGBTQI+ community) on the political agenda and empower these groups;
- Research, translations, workshops and other formats related to green political education.
- Within the framework of the topic “Ecological Sustainability and Urban Development”, the Foundation will give priority to proposals which promote and encourage civic activities and/or political education in the following directions:
- Campaigns and activities (research, publications, investigative journalism, round tables) promoting or advocating for water, soil, and air protection;
- Public participation in the processes or procedures leading to decisions which may have an impact on the environment and ecological sustainability;
- Humanitarian, economic, social, and gender aspects of urban development;
- Activities promoting discussions and knowledge about the interconnections of gender, environment, and sustainable development.
Restrictions
- The Foundation gives priority to the cooperation with organizations and initiative groups who share green political values.
- The applicants must not be involved in any commercial activities.
- The Foundation does not support or make any financial contribution to:
- Large purchases (property, infrastructure, technological equipment);
- State institutions, political parties and programs.
