The National Research, Development and Innovation Fund has launched a call to provide national contribution support for Hungarian organizations participating in joint international calls of European Partnerships co-funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme.
The call will strengthen strategic cooperation between national organizations involved in projects supported by the European Partnerships; contribute to the Hungarian participants of projects funded in the framework of European Partnerships gaining experience in the field of international R&D cooperation and in meeting the requirements of Horizon Europe calls for proposals (eg stakeholder engagement, open science techniques, data management process, impact-oriented approach), which can contribute to the strengthening of Hungarian participation in Horizon Europe in the relevant technological fields; help Hungarian participants in projects supported by European Partnerships to access networking and capacity building opportunities organized by the Partnerships; and contribute to laying the foundations for future scientific and economic cooperation through the partnerships established in the projects. Project proposals under the sub-programmes of this call are invited for the following topics: Biodiversa+ : research (and innovation) on biodiversity and ecosystem conservation; Water4All : water safety research (and innovation); CETP : Clean Energy Transition Partnership; DUT : Driving Urban Transitions; ERA for Health : pre-clinical and clinical biomedical research, health promotion and disease prevention, development of new technologies and digital solutions to better understand, diagnose and treat diseases; EP PERMED (European Partnership for Personalized Medicine): support for translational and interdisciplinary research to translate personalized solutions into clinical practice.
The call is designed to provide financial contribution from the NRDI Fund to Hungarian entities that are members of consortia recommended for funding under European Partnerships.
Applications are open to a wide range of legal entities including higher education institutions, budgetary and non-budgetary research organizations, enterprises, non-profits, and members of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. Both research-focused and non-research enterprises are eligible, provided they comply with the requirements outlined in the call.
The scope of eligible project objectives includes basic research, applied industrial research, and experimental development. Certain support activities such as equipment purchases, project support, and travel cannot be funded independently.
The 2025 budget has been set at HUF 2,972,444,075, with funding per project varying by sub-programme. Project durations may extend up to a maximum of 36 months, and 15–20 applications are expected to be supported.
