Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
The Local Artists Grant supports the creative work of local artists in the Onkaparinga region by funding new artistic projects and increasing the visibility of artistic diversity. The aim is to boost the local arts sector and contribute to the Community Vision 2034 by strengthening cultural and creative industries.
The grant funding supports projects that align with priorities such as leadership, community, liveability, and the environment. These priorities are backed by several council strategies, including the Arts and Cultural Development Action Plan, Economic Growth and Tourism Strategic Plan, Inclusive Communities Action Plan, and the Reconciliation Action Plan.
Applicants can apply for funding between $2,000 and $7,500. All projects must be delivered within an annual timeframe and completed by 31 December 2026.
Certain types of costs and activities are not eligible for funding. These include projects occurring outside Onkaparinga, applications without a local resident artist, reimbursements for expenses already incurred, and activities that fall under state or federal government responsibilities. Also ineligible are capital works, ongoing salaries, religious or exclusive events, competitions, or events that harm the environment or exclude community groups.
Eligible project activities include direct project costs like materials or equipment, professional development, public space activations, projects highlighting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and collaborations between artists and communities for creative or social goals.
Applicants must meet eligibility criteria, which include being individual artists or sole traders residing in Onkaparinga, artist groups with at least one local member, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander corporations, or not-for-profits with arts projects taking place in the area. Being eligible does not guarantee funding.
Applications will be assessed based on artistic merit, alignment with council strategies, viability of the project, long-term sustainability, and inclusivity.
