Deadline: 08-Aug-2025
The Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF), in collaboration with the Change the Game Academy and Wilde Ganzen Foundation, is now accepting applications for the Match Funding Grant 2025. This initiative is designed to support local civil society organisations by enhancing their fundraising capacity and reducing dependency on foreign aid. The goal is to empower communities to take ownership of their development and ensure sustainability through locally sourced funding.
The Change the Game Academy focuses on shifting power to local communities by strengthening the financial independence of civil society actors in the Global South. By helping organisations build local fundraising skills, the programme promotes long-term sustainability, increased community engagement, and stronger legitimacy for grassroots initiatives.
Eligible projects must fall under one of seven thematic areas: governance and civic empowerment, social accountability, education, youth participation and empowerment, gender and human rights, livelihoods (such as agriculture and social enterprise), and health. These areas reflect the broad reach and community-centered focus of UNNGOF’s work in Uganda.
To qualify, applicants must be indigenous, locally registered CBOs or NGOs with no international affiliation. They must have completed training in Local Fundraising (LFR), and the proposed match project must address a community-identified issue, with proof of community engagement. Applicants are also required to submit a detailed fundraising plan that includes cost estimates, duration, and expected returns.
Projects must run for a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months. They cannot support religious evangelism, church operations, orphanages, or administrative costs. Organisations are expected to raise 50% of the project budget through local fundraising efforts. These funds must be sourced locally and cannot come from the government or international donors. The grant will only match funds once proof of successful local fundraising is provided.
