Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), in partnership with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), invites applications for its Small Grants Initiative Programme to strengthen youth leadership, enhance knowledge transfer, and build community capacity across Africa by supporting participants to replicate and adapt the training in their respective countries.
The grant opportunity seeks to equip focal points with resources to replicate training that advances climate adaptation, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. Build local capacity in leadership, program management, communication, and resource mobilization. Facilitate peer learning and knowledge transfer across African countries, ensuring contextual adaptation and shared best practices. Foster sustainability and impact through youth-led initiatives that contribute to climate resilience and social cohesion.
Each successful applicant will receive €2,000, which must be strictly used for the replication of the training. Applicants are required to be focal points for their country in the program, have successfully completed the training, demonstrate a commitment to youth engagement and community capacity building, propose a feasible replication activity within their country, and be able to implement the activity within one month after receiving the grant.
Grantees are expected to organize replication sessions using the GCA Toolkit and training modules, adapt the content to their local contexts, ensure diverse youth participation with a balance of gender and inclusivity, and document and share outcomes through reports, success stories, and peer exchanges. They will also complete a post-replication survey capturing lessons learned, experiences, and challenges encountered.
Replication activities must be grounded in the Toolkit for Youth on Adaptation & Leadership and must incorporate the practical skills developed during the training modules, including proposal writing and grant management, monitoring and evaluation, communication strategies, program design and implementation, climate change adaptation, peace and conflict transformation, event organization and facilitation, and cross-cutting leadership and sustainability skills.
Proposals must not exceed four pages and should be submitted using the provided template, adhering to word limits for each section. Proposals will be evaluated based on eligibility, organizational profile and past projects, background and project description, objectives and target population, methodology, activities and outputs, team expertise, communication strategy, and budget and cost-effectiveness, with a total of 100 points and a minimum pass mark of 80 points.
The deadline for submission is 30th September, with successful applicants notified by 15th October, and the grant transfer completed by 30th October.
