The ACT Foundation offers grants focused on four key areas aimed at fostering sustainable development across Africa: Health, Entrepreneurship, Environment, and Leadership.
Each of these areas is designed to address critical challenges and empower communities to thrive. In the area of Health, the foundation supports interventions that promote sustainable solutions, particularly in Maternal and Child Health and Non-communicable Diseases. The belief is that healthy individuals are better equipped to overcome poverty and contribute positively to society.
Entrepreneurship grants focus on improving livelihoods through income generation and economic empowerment. By supporting the acquisition of vocational and digital skills alongside financial literacy and inclusion, the foundation aims to tackle high rates of unemployment and underemployment, creating opportunities for individuals and families to build stable futures.
Environmental sustainability is another priority, with initiatives centered on Integrated Waste Management, Climate Action, and ensuring equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water. These projects not only protect the environment but also promote proper hygiene practices vital to community health.
Leadership grants seek to cultivate a new generation of credible, accountable, and ethical leaders who will drive economic growth, human development, peace, and security. The foundation supports programs focused on youth leadership, thought leadership, and national development to build strong institutions across the continent.
To qualify for an ACT Foundation grant, organizations must work within these focus areas and meet several criteria. Eligible applicants must be legally registered non-profits or social enterprises operating in Africa for at least two years, with a strong governance structure and evidence of other funding sources. Organizations must have a minimum of three paid staff members and be directly responsible for implementing the proposed projects within Africa.
Certain entities are excluded from funding, including individuals, non-profits without a legal board, organizations with a history of fund mismanagement, political parties or campaign groups, and any groups advocating illegal or inhumane activities.
Through these targeted grants, the ACT Foundation continues to support impactful projects that drive positive change and sustainable development across the African continent.
