Deadline: 12-Aug-2025
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a call for proposals to support a nationally integrated food regulatory system by helping state egg regulatory programs achieve and maintain full conformance with the Egg Regulatory Program Standards (ERPS).
This cooperative agreement will fund state programs to develop a five-year plan to fully implement the ERPS. It aims to enhance regulatory capabilities to protect public health, improve information sharing between states and the FDA, and better direct regulatory actions to prevent egg-related illnesses caused by hazards in facilities that handle shell eggs.
The funding opportunity is designed to strengthen foodborne illness prevention, reduce exposure to contaminated eggs, and support consistent implementation of egg safety standards. It also seeks to expand state inspection capacity and improve regulatory oversight.
The estimated total funding for this program is $94,000, with an award ceiling of $47,000 per recipient. Eligible applicants include current FDA egg inspection contract states or those willing to enter into a contract in 2025. Applicants must have a long-term 20.88 information sharing agreement and demonstrate commitment to achieving full ERPS conformance.
Funding is initially granted for one year, with the possibility of two additional years of non-competitive support, depending on performance and funding availability. Full ERPS conformance is expected within five years, with continued support for those maintaining compliance. States previously funded are expected to be in full conformance and enter a maintenance phase by year five.
Foreign organizations and non-U.S. entities are not eligible to apply. U.S. organizations with foreign components are also excluded from this funding opportunity.
