Deadline: 22-Sep-2025
The Children’s Week WA Community Grants Program opens up a valuable opportunity for not-for-profit and local government organisations in regional and remote Western Australia.
These small grants empower local groups to organise inclusive, free, community-centered events that celebrate children during Children’s Week. In previous years, the program has reached over 7,500 community members and supported dozens of local projects bringing families together in meaningful ways.
Eligible events might involve family-friendly activities that promote a positive childhood, highlight diversity, and create opportunities for play and learning. The program particularly encourages initiatives that tie into the national theme—such as children’s rights and environmental awareness—as well as events that strengthen community bonds.
Grants offer up to $1,000 (excluding GST) and are awarded through a competitive process, with the aim of supporting as many worthwhile projects as possible. The upcoming deadline requires final applications to be submitted via the Children’s Week WA website by 13 September 2024.
Projects are assessed on their potential to benefit children’s learning, wellbeing, safety, identity, and communication. Strong outreach and inclusivity—particularly in disadvantaged areas—are key considerations in the selection process.
Successful recipients will need to follow certain guidelines, such as promoting health and environmental awareness, providing shade, healthy food, free water, and acknowledging the program’s supporters. After the event, a short report with photos and a financial summary must be submitted.
