Deadline: 03-Nov-2025
The Community Grants Program has been designed to support locally based not-for-profit groups and organisations in delivering projects, events and creative ideas that foster greater community engagement, participation, skill development and training opportunities.
Through this initiative, investment is directed into projects that increase access to programs and activities while building strong partnerships with organisations that share the vision of creating vibrant, inclusive and connected communities.
Eligible groups can apply for one-off grants of up to $5,000. To qualify for funding, organisations must be incorporated not-for-profit entities or unincorporated community groups operating under the auspices of an incorporated association.
The program seeks initiatives that deliver a tangible community benefit and can be completed within a twelve-month timeframe. Projects must demonstrate clear community need, provide value for money, and reflect an organisation’s ability to deliver outcomes effectively. They should also align with the Strategic Community Plan 2020–2040, with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity across age, ability, culture, gender and financial background. Funding preference is given to projects that can demonstrate measurable outcomes and lasting impact on the community, particularly those that align with objectives such as supporting vulnerable communities, building the capacity of local organisations, encouraging volunteering and training, improving access to technology for education, celebrating cultural diversity, creating opportunities for smaller-scale events, fostering youth development, strengthening neighbourhood connections, and celebrating Mandurah’s indigenous culture, arts and heritage.
Funding may be used to cover costs associated with project delivery, including expenses for instructors, consultants or training providers, as well as equipment purchases or hire that expand an organisation’s capacity to deliver services. Marketing, advertising, and facility hire costs may also be supported, provided they directly contribute to the success of the initiative.
Certain expenses, however, are not eligible for funding. These include projects that occur outside the City of Mandurah, retrospective or ongoing operational costs such as salaries and rent, and initiatives that should otherwise be funded through government contractual arrangements. Income-generating activities, travel, camp costs, or insurance are excluded, as are projects that duplicate existing services. Funding is not available for applicants with outstanding debts or acquittals to the City, or those already holding an open agreement under the Community Partnership Grant. Similarly, large capital expenditures, faith-based activities for religious purposes, political or lobbying initiatives, purchase of alcohol, prizes or gifts, and fundraising appeals are not considered eligible. Previous successful applicants within the same financial year are also excluded from reapplying.
Overall, the Community Grants Program is an important opportunity for community groups in Mandurah to bring forward innovative and inclusive ideas that strengthen local connections, address real community needs, and celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of the area.
